Built-In Multiplier
Every Mega Millions ticket includes a built-in multiplier of 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X that boosts all non-jackpot prizes. The odds of each multiplier are: 2X at 1 in 2.13, 3X at 1 in 3.2, 4X at 1 in 8, 5X at 1 in 16, and 10X at 1 in 32. The former Megaplier add-on was retired in April 2025.
Annuity Payments
Mega Millions jackpot winners may choose an annuity consisting of an initial payment followed by 29 annual payments, each 5% larger than the previous one, or a one-time lump-sum cash payment.
